In 1979, Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only were hunting for images to silkscreen onto T-shirts. They found the Crimson Ghost — a hooded, hollow-eyed skull from the Republic Pictures serial of the same name — and immediately understood its power. That face appeared first on a concert flyer for a March 28, 1979 show at Max's Kansas City, New York City. By June, it was on the cover of Horror Business.
